Tech Note: 110402 Conflict between Freedom Security & Privacy Suite Installed with V-ONE SmartPass on systems directly shipped from HP Problem: The use of LSP to control firewall functionality. By installing SmartPass on the machine with this software installed can cause malfunction of the system Resolution: To restore the HP system, or any other box with Freedom Security & Privacy Suite, the user should do the following: 1. Boot to safe mode, or DOS prompt 2. cd c:\program files\v-one\smartpass 3. vshimsetup remove 4. Uninstall Freedom and reboot the system 5. Run Vshimsetup.exe install and reboot the system The user will be returned to their origin desktop environment. Note: V-ONE is working on a permanent resolution on this issue.
