SmartGate Technical Notes

Tech Note: 030102

Writing permissions for Encryption Server administration.

When setting a server to be Encryption only, you can still admin the box. To avoid confusion, the best way is to set extra permissions on the Authentication/Configuration server.

1a) On the Authentication/Configuration server, go to TCP permission page.
Add an access permission
Path = IP address of the Encryption server
Destination Port = 3900
Client Port = 2080
Proxy Port = 3900

OR

1b) On the Authentication/Configuration server, go to Web permission page.
Add an access permission
Path = /IP of the Encryption server:3900/
there is a colon 3900 at the end Server Port 3900

2) Open SmartPass to connect to the Encryption server. Open web browser and use URL http://Encryption_Server_IP:3900 and the browser will open a page to administer the Encryption server.

3) Repeat above steps for each Encryption server.

4) SmartPass must connect directly to the box that you want to administer. For example, to administer the Authentication Server, open SmartPass to connect to the Authentication server. If using FIPS token, please have a separate token for each server.
