VCOM System Suite Incompatibility with SmartPass 4.3b

Problem: VCOM System Suite and SmartPass 4.3b go through the IFS socket handles. VCOM System Suite conflicts as soon as SmartPass 4.3b installs and blocks any packets generated by SmartPass 4.3b.

Reason: The VCOM System Suite installs itself in the Winsock2 layer of your network stack. Because VCOM System Suite pushes itself to the first entry in the Winsock 2 layer, it is not compatible with SmartPass or many other Winsock2 compatible applications.

Resolution: Uninstall VCOM System Suite before installing SmartPass. If unsure if VCOM System Suite is installed, contact V-ONE for a special version of SmartPass 4.3b that will detect if VCOM System Suite is already loaded. Contact your local administrator for assistance in removing VCOM System Suite.

If you have already installed SmartPass and are experiencing conflicts with VCOM System Suite, perform the following steps:

1. Open a command window and change directory to the SmartPass root directory (usually
c:\program files\v-one\smartpass)
2. Run "vshimsetup remove"
3. Reboot the system
4. Contact your local system administrator for help in removing VCOM System Suite
5. After removing VCOM System Suite, repeat step 1
6. Run "vshimsetup install" and reboot
