V-ONE Corporation Press Release
V-ONE Offers 'On-Demand' VPN-Over-Satellite Service

GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 2004--V-ONE CORPORATION (OTCPK: VONE), a global Internet security company, today announced it will introduce "on-demand" VPN-over-satellite service through the company's broadband satellite resellers. The service, built around V-ONE's SmartSat(TM) application layer SSL VPN product, is among the first of its kind to be offered to broadband satellite users.

The SmartSat on-demand service has key advantages for VPN-over-satellite resellers and providers who might otherwise purchase SmartSat:

Resellers and providers can minimize up-front purchase costs and capital expenditures;
Providers can bundle end-to-end security into their service model;
Resellers can flexibly adjust SmartSat user quantities to match customer load;
Providers can ramp-up when rolling out remote office, teleworker, and partner extranets.
SmartSat circumvents the long-standing problem of satellite latency (delay) experienced by IPSec and other network layer VPN protocols. Benchmark results show that SmartSat VPN-over-satellite throughput is 5 to 15 times faster than when using IPSec products.

Hughes Network Systems, the world's leading provider of satellite broadband solutions, and V-ONE recently agreed to co-market SmartSat to the federal government. SmartSat is the first and only VPN-over-satellite solution that Hughes has certified. SmartSat earned this certification by meeting Hughes' performance requirement that a VPN-over-satellite solution experience less than 10% degradation when measured against in-the-clear communications.

"We are very excited to be one of the first VPN solution providers to offer an on-demand service to the broadband satellite industry," said V-ONE president and CEO Margaret E. Grayson. "We are confident this service will provide added flexibility for our service partners, allowing them to better serve their growing customer needs."
