V-ONE Receives Follow-on Order for FBI Expansion of the National Alert System

GERMANTOWN, Md., Dec 17, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- V-ONE Corporation (OTCPK:VONE), a leading Internet security technology company, today announced an order valued at approximately $290,000 to support planned expansion of the National Alert System (NAS) deployment. The order represents the sale of additional user licenses to the FBI through its government contractor, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). The alert system deployment is an important part of a series of planned expansions for the FBI Law Enforcement Online (LEO) program.

"V-ONE is pleased to support the FBI as they implement the National Alert System. Our V-ONE SmartGate(R) technology is helping to deliver secure, authenticated and timely alerts on terrorist-related activities on an any time, any place basis to law enforcement and intelligence personnel across the nation," stated Margaret Grayson, president and CEO of V-ONE Corporation.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation provides a national focal point for electronic communication, education, and information sharing through the development and operation of LEO, serving all levels of the law enforcement community as well as components of the military and intelligence communities. LEO is interconnected with the Regional Information Sharing Systems (RISS) Program network that provides services to sworn officers in more that 6,000 criminal justice agencies. The RISS/LEO network forms a backbone architecture for law enforcement connectivity that has been recommended by the National Criminal Intelligence Sharing Plan and approved by Attorney General John Ashcroft for implementation of a nationwide intelligence sharing capability.

Doug Hurt, vice president of sales and marketing at V-ONE stated, "The LEO/RISS network is a powerful tool enabling the secure sharing of sensitive information in this extended law enforcement community, now securing more than 100,000 authorized users. The National Alert System is a clear indication of the importance of LEO in our homeland security initiatives. We anticipate continued growth over the coming year."
