GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 2002--V-ONE Corporation (Nasdaq:VONE), a leading Internet security technology company, announced today that V-ONE's SmartPass(R) client software will be installed on all CoBRA(TM) Response Kits provided to accredited bomb squads throughout the United States.

Under a contract with the FBI, Defense Group, Inc. (DGI) (www.defensegroupinc.com) will outfit nationally accredited bomb squads throughout the United States with CoBRA(TM) Response Kits consisting of a laptop computer, digital camera, GPS receiver, and compact scanner.

Among other activities, the bomb squads will use the SmartPass-enabled laptop computers to access the FBI's Law Enforcement Online (LEO) extranet to obtain critical information on effects, protective gear and response measures, defusing an explosive, identifying the closest safe detonation site, and decontamination procedures.

SmartPass runs as a non-intrusive application on the end user's desktop or as a Java(TM) applet on a browser Installation is fast, simple, and designed to take the complexity of VPN implementation out of the hands of users.

SmartPass handles user authentication by interfacing with a variety of authentication methods ranging from a FIPS 140-1 validated token to third party products such as RSA SecurID(R), LDAP PKI, and RADIUS. To securely connect, a user simply enters an access code that verifies possession of an authentication token residing either on a hard drive, floppy disk, or Smart Card.
