An unusual highlight of this one-day conference is that it is not simply about ensuring the cyber-safety of children – it will actually feature children as an integral element. An interactive play, “Cyber Smart in Cyber Space,” will feature youngsters on stage teaching important Internet do’s and don’ts to an audience of local fourth- and fifth-graders. The play will be broadcast live on the Internet and via satellite at 1:00 p.m. Eastern on October 20.
In addition to this children’s track, the conference will feature tracks designed for parents, educators, legislators and law enforcement professionals.
“Nothing is more important than ensuring the safety of our most precious national asset – our children,” said Grayson. “Since the Internet is now an integral part of our communities, it’s imperative to protect our children from online threats such as identity theft, Internet predators and other inappropriate activity. This innovative conference will provide important information that both children and their caregivers need to help keep them out of harm’s way.”
Grayson will join experts from academia to take part in a panel discussion on cyber security issues from the educational perspective. Regent Joseph E. Bowman, Jr. of the State University of New York will lead the discussion.
