Intelligent Port Forwarding, New Unified Webtop Highlight Latest Edition of AEP Networks SSL VPN Platform
Release 5.2 of AEP Netilla Security Platform, Secure Gateway Appliance Now Shipping
SOMERSET, N.J. – Aug 25, 2005 – AEP Networks, the specialist in network and application access security, today announced general availability of its latest SSL VPN platform. The AEP Netilla ® Security Platform (NSP) and Secure Gateway Appliance (SGA) SSL VPN product lines are now shipping with Release 5.2, a major software enhancement that incorporates across-the-board advances in application compatibility, security and platform management.
The new 5.2 features are headlined by Intelligent Port Forwarding (IPF), enabling users to securely access the broadest range of Web-based and client/server applications without special client software. AEP's unique implementation combines its advanced Web Reverse Proxy technology with a highly selective use of port-forwarding (essentially an application-layer data tunnel) that is activated only when an application component (such as an ActiveX control) cannot be rewritten with a proxy.
“Release 5.2, with our new Intelligent Port Forwarding capability, reinforces Netilla's reputation for providing secure remote access to virtually every enterprise application available,” said Reggie Best, executive vice president, Secure Application Access Business Unit, AEP Networks. “While other vendors tend to port-forward the entire application, our approach allowing a combination of proxy and port-forwarding provides the best combination of security and application compatibility.”
“As a diverse specialty metals manufacturer that needs to provide our employees with secure remote access to a full range of both client/server and Web-based applications, we welcome the broader application support of Netilla 5.2,” said Randy Colone , Technical Services Manager at Johnson-Matthey USA , based in Wayne , Penn.
Other key Release 5.2 features:
- V-Realms: AEP Networks' unique authentication architecture that enables up to 1,000 different “virtual containers” (realms) specifying identity, entitlements, environment and client integrity tests.
- VASCO integration: Fully integrated support for VASCO's Digipass two-factor authentication solution. Digipass provides strong user authentication and e-signatures and is compatible with the world's leading international vendors for e-commerce, e-banking, e-networking and e-government applications.
- Unified webtop: The only fully icon-driven secure application access portal in the industry, for a simpler, more intuitive user experience.
- Application auto-launch: Enables frequently used applications such as Outlook Web Access or Citrix MetaFrame to be launched automatically upon login.
- Connection Status Monitor: A comprehensive Web-based tool that lets administrators easily drill down for user-specific data, including session duration and application access history.
- Security: Periodic reauthentication and forms-based authentication give administrators new options for authenticating users.
- Industry Certifications: FIPS 140-1 Level 3 data security standard, the highest in the industry (available as an option for the NSP G-Class). ICSA Labs SSL-TLS VPN test program. Virtual Private Network Consortium SSL VPN test program.
U.S. list prices for the AEP Netilla Security Platform start at $7,500 for 25 concurrent users. List prices for the application-specific entry-level SGA family begin at $2,495 for 25 concurrent users.
