Panel Discussion:
" Creating a Resilient Nation: Protecting our Critical Network Infrastructure”

Private industry has developed and owns most of the IT infrastructure of the United States, yet the government is responsible for national security. An effective public/private partnership is needed to help assure the security of our cyber assets. With that in mind, the President has established the National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC) to support a coordinated effort by both government and private sector entities to advise him on the security of the information systems supporting the nation's critical infrastructure in key sectors of the economy. This panel session will discuss a number of the crucial issues that the NIAC is examining, with assistance from colleagues across the public and private sectors, including topics such as the "hardening" of the Internet, effective cyber security workforce development, vulnerability scoring and disclosure, and risk management approaches to protection.

Grayson will moderate a panel discussion of these experts:

  • Alfred R. Berkeley III, Chief Executive Officer, Pipeline Trading Systems, LLC
  • Albert J. Edmonds, Lt. General , United States Air Force (Retired); Founder, Edmonds Enterprise Services, Inc.
  • Andy Ellis, Senior Director of Information Security and Chief Security Architect, Akamai Technologies, Inc.
  • William F. Pelgrin, Director, New York State Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination (CSCIC)
  • Kenneth C. Watson, Senior Manager, Critical Infrastructure Assurance Group (CIAG), Cisco Systems, Inc.
