AEP Networks Unveils High-Performance SSL VPN at Aggressive Price Point

New AEP Netilla Secure Gateway Appliance-Tunnel Delivers Broad Application Access, High Throughput for Less than $2,500

INTEROP 2005, Las Vegas – May 3, 2005 – AEP Networks, the specialist in network and application access security, today introduced the AEP Netilla® Secure Gateway Appliance Tunnel (SGA-T), a compact, pre-configured VPN gateway that lowers the cost barrier of entry for secure SSL-encrypted application access. With a list price of just $2,495 for 25 concurrent users, SGA-T combines high-speed performance with secure access to a broad array of Windows applications.

The Netilla SGA-T uses the Netilla Virtual Network Adapter, a lightweight control that is automatically downloaded to the user's PC to set up an SSL-encrypted network-level data tunnel – providing security equal to an IPSec-based tunnel, but without IPSec's administrative and management challenges.

“With SGA-T, we're delivering an advanced SSL VPN solution at an IPSec VPN price,” said Reggie Best, executive vice president and general manager of AEP Networks' Secure Application Access business. “Real-world performance testing demonstrated our SSL tunnel was up to 100 percent faster than other SSL VPN products – yet at a lower price. That adds up to a winning combination, for both our resellers and our customers.”

SGA-T works with Internet Explorer browsers to provide secure access to any Windows-based application. The SGA-T is packaged for a 30-minute install featuring a straightforward administrative interface and an intuitive user interface.

While designed for ease of use, SGA-T incorporates all of AEP's advanced policy enforcement and authentication capabilities. A key feature is the Netilla V-Realms TM Client Identity Engine, which lets administrators set up specific authentication, policy and client integrity policies for various user groups or business departments.

The SGA-T provides the broad “network connect” functionality of IPSec-based VPN clients. The Netilla SGA architecture incorporates the additional benefits of an internal firewall that dynamically monitors access to requested applications, seamless installation requiring no end-user configuration, and NAT (network address translation) compatibility. In addition, AEP offers a suite of optional Client Integrity features to ensure that remote PCs comply with network security policies before they are granted network access.

The AEP Netilla SGA-T will be available in June through AEP's authorized reseller network. List price is $2,495 for 25 concurrent users, with no limit on the number of named users.

SGA-T marks the third model in the Secure Gateway Appliance family. It joins the SGA-M, which provides secure access to Microsoft Outlook Web Access, and the SGA-C, enabling secure access to Citrix MetaFrame applications. With prices under $5,000, the SGA product suite is designed to meet the secure application access requirements of small - to midsize businesses or corporate departments.
