AEP Networks and BeCrypt Join Forces to Offer Agile Trusted Mobile Working

USB-Based Technology Combined with VPN Enables Secure Access in Unmanaged Environments

November 12, 2007 – London , UK – AEP Networks, the leader in policy-based networking, and BeCrypt, a leading supplier of data protection and encryption products, announce a joint solution which offers self-contained, temporary security for un-trusted hosts in un-managed environments. The joint offering is comprised of the AEP SmartGate application layer VPN and Trusted Client, BeCrypt's USB device-based operating system technology. The companies have combined their technologies to create a solution particularly suited to government and federal IT infrastructure, as it can re-create specific levels of security accreditation on third party devices instantly with an encrypted workspace.

Trusted Client provides a safe, configurable and bootable operating system and workspace for remote endpoint PCs via a fully-encrypted USB memory stick. Its functionality can be customised to provide a thin-client, a range of basic applications, and/or endpoint inspection, as required. The media on which Trusted Client resides is fully encrypted. BeCrypt's Trusted Client solution has been designed to meet stringent government security standards and has been approved by the UK Government.

AEP SmartGate is a FIPS certified identity-based access management security product designed for rapid deployment of large-scale, distributed, information-sharing environments. SmartGate enables organisations to securely exchange information with employees, customers and business partners over any IP-based infrastructure. AEP SmartGate VPNs are used to create a secure and verified link between the remote endpoint and the user's corporate network resources. Advanced features enable federated identity, strong authentication and control of access privileges across trusted organisations. The SmartGate VPN is a well established product with large scale deployments in Government and Industry in Europe and the USA . SmartGate is optimised for performance over satellite networks.

The joint Trusted Client / AEP SmartGate solution provides increased flexibility for workers as they can work securely from any computer in any location. It reduces costs by removing the need for laptops, providing remote access to systems, removing the need for two computing systems where users work at different levels of classification.
